Welcome to Gato Chancho!

We are a family owned and run business making Chilean-style empanadas baked with love. Gato Chancho literally means cat pig, but in Chile and elsewhere in Latin America, chancho (pig) is also used as a term of endearment for someone who really loves to eat.

Meet our All-Star team of chanchos....


The Team

Cris

 A native of Santiago, Chile, Cris has worked making empanadas in some of the most famous and beloved bakeries in the city. In Boston, he has also worked as a head bread baker at the Friendly Toast and a pizza chef at Regina Pizzeria. One bite of his empanada dough will remind you how hard it is to beat the buttery flavor of delicious gluten.

 

Jess

An avid empanada eater and sous chef, Jess helps test out new recipes and always makes sure there’s quality music to jam to in the kitchen.

 

Ricky Martin

The gato chancho (pig-cat) himself, Ricky is the feline inspiration behind the empanadas who gets very excited when chicken filling is being made. He has been known to meow along to Livin’ la Vida Loca too.
